Module 1: “Culture as a bridge to communicate”
Culture represents a big part of human life and interactions, and it has been and is still being deeply analysed and studied.
At the same time, it is necessary to focus on intergenerational communication to understand the different “cultures” between different age groups.
For this reason, the Learning Unit “Culture as a bridge to communicate” aims to guide the learners to understand the role of communication in delivering cultural messages and, vice versa, how culture affects communication at all levels.
Moreover, it will help the achievement of a bigger knowledge on the topics of cultural and age gaps, and the role of mediation in the intergenerational communication process.
The Module is addressed to adult educators and older people.
The Module 1 will give the learner interesting food for thought, providing various definitions of culture and analysing the phenomenon of culture and communication. The learner will be also guided in understanding cultural gaps through helpful tips and will be able to self-assess their knowledge through a quiz.
At the end of the module, the learner will have gained major confidence in intergenerational processes, involving communication and culture, including valuable recommendation on how to overcome cultural barriers.
